don't make these smiles turn upside down

Today, kookie is highlighting another amazing designer, Jennifer Vallez of Sophie & Lili, who is a member of the Handmade Toy Alliance.

Sophie & Lili is a little girls' clothing & accessory company established in 2004. Her handmade dolls are one-of-a-kind designs printed on high quality quilters cotton & personalized with a name or message of your choosing. Their hair accessories are designed and printed on a linen/cotton canvas and made to match some of our most popular doll styles. These dolls are beyond precious, let's make sure we don't turn these gorgeous smiles on these dolls faces upside down on Feb 2011. Please support the HTA and their efforts to amend the CPSIA. like a kid in a candy shop

'like a kid in a candy shop' skirt is as sweet as sugar! I am pretty sure it would knock Shirley Temple's little frilly socks off. this skirt is available in sizes small (2-3years), medium (4-6 years), large (7-8 years) and xlarge (9-10 years).

this skirt will satisfy any little girl's sweet tooth!

one crafty lady at crafty baby!

Today, we are featuring a family run company based in Connecticut, Crafty baby. Crafty Baby was founded in 1998 by a love of sewing and a need for practical & durable children and baby products. Jill Chuckas, owner and creator, discovered during her pregnancy with her first child that there was a lack of unique, yet classic, fabric crafted items for young children in her local stores. As a longtime seamstress and crafter, Jill decided to do something about this dilemma, and Crafty Baby was "born." Jill credits her attention to detail and quality to her Nana K who first inspired within her a love of sewing at the early age of 4. Jill's designs are one-of-a-kind and crafted specifically to ensure durability against washing and active little ones. Fabrics are carefully selected for the highest level of quality and comfort. Crafty Baby has become a family affair, with Jill's children helping to pick out fabrics and field test products. Crafty Baby is a true, home-based, family company.

save handmade

The
Handmade Toy Alliance is a non-profit organization made up of crafters, manufacturers and importers of small batch children’s products. In 2008, Congress passed the CPSIA to regulate the children’s product industry, but the over reaching law has unintended consequence requiring all children’s products to be tested at a third party testing lab. The testing costs are expensive and often require the destruction of several pieces for a result. The HTA is urging Congress to amend the CPSIA in a way that keeps safe products in the market place and maintains safety standards that protect our children. Do your part by going to www.handmadetoyalliance.com and contacting your member Congress.

We take great pride at designing and making of our kookie girls clothing line in the USA.This week, kookie will be featuring members of the Handmade Toy Alliance and their handmade products. We ask for others to join in the Handmade Toy Alliance's fight to help bring change before many, many small businesses go out of business on Feb 10, 2011.

For more information on the history and mission of the HTA, we urge you to visit their website. Thank you!
